Star Wars Republic Commando is a first person shooter, you play from the perspective of an elite Republic Soldier in the Star Wars Universe. What makes the game original is that you are the leader of a small team, which you can command with very easy to use functions. This is important to know: although you need your teammembers (and they your leadership) to succesfully finish most of the missions, the game stays a rather straight forward fps. You shouldn't expect a brain-breaking strategy game where you have to come up with superb team-tactics to outwit the enemy. Anyway, the resulting gameplay experience is really great!
The most negative point for me is the rather short length of the game. You can finish the three campaign levels in several hours (in my case, a few evenings).
So, a lot of fun, but not for long... let's hope for some add-on missions.

Another cool game I am playing at the moment is Brothers in arms: Road to Hill 30, a WWII game, with a high degree of realism, that starts off at D-Day.
It is also a team-based first person shooter, but here the importance of your team (and thus you commanding them) is much greater. Strategy and tactics play a much bigger role, you really have to use your head to advance in the game !

I recently discovered ign.com while looking for some game reviews, and this is certainly one of the best review sites I 've encountered so far.
This particular review is about a platform game on PC, which are pretty rare, and it looks pretty interesting to say the least !
